EBT / FNS / SNAP

10/26: While D-SNAP Registration is closed, if you feel you or family might qualify for FNS, you can get more information here: https://www.buncombecounty.org/governing/depts/publicassistance/foodassist.aspx or the SNAP program here: https://www.ncdhhs.gov/divisions/child-and-family-well-being/food-and-nutrition-services-food-stamps/simplified-nutritional-assistance-program-snap

Get the most out of your EBT/SNAP at local farmer’s markets with double tokens.  Per Asap (https://asapconnections.org/find-local-food/farmers-markets/): “Many farmers markets throughout the region accept SNAP/EBT. Some also offer SNAP incentive programs like Double SNAP or Double Up Food Bucks…Double SNAP for Fruits and Vegetables is a SNAP incentive program at participating farmers markets in Western North Carolina. As a SNAP customer, when you swipe your EBT card for any amount, you will receive that amount in SNAP tokens as well as up to $20 in additional Farm Fresh Bucks, which may be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at market.” In addition to fruits and vegetables, tailgate markets also often feature eggs, cheeses, meats, fermented foods and bread that SNAP tokens can be used to purchase.
Check the link above to verify which markets near you accept EBT and participate in Double SNAP.
